Proper planning, use of cones, high-visibility gear and an awareness of traffic are all of the utmost importance when creating a work zone in or around a roadway.

More than 279 times each day, or 102,000 times in 2021, a crash occurred in a work zone. Of the 156 pedestrian fatalities occurring in work zones, 32% were workers.
